Summer Strawberry

Elan : These vigorous plants produce abundant aromatic fruit throughout the whole summer with the accent of the gorgeous blooms. Plants showcase fruit on top, instead of hanging like other varieties. Large white flowers produce medium sized conical shaped fruit. Great planted in hanging baskets for a combo of ornamental blooms and delicious edible fruit.

Flavorfest: Just released by Dr. Kim Lewers at the USDA Beltsville Research Center, Beltsville, MD. Flavorfest is a mid-season variety. Fruits are an attractive bright red color with an excellent flavor profile. Berries are large and hold their size through the season. Plant is vigorous and shows excellent disease resistance to red stele and leaf diseases. In addition, no susceptibility to anthracnose crown or fruit rot has been found. With Flavorfest's high vigor, applications of nitrogen will need to be managed to avoid excessive growth.

Darselect: Darselect strawberry is a highly productive, widely adapted variety. “In our customer survey, 90% rated Darselect as good to excellent for size, color, appearance and plant vigor. Its sweet, tasty fruit was rated very good for flavor and firmness.”-Nourse Fruit Farm. It will fruit from early mid-season to mid-season. The plants require good amounts of nitrogen, and appropriate amounts of magnesium and potassium during fruit growth to enhance its performance.
